I can't say I share your enthusiasm. I am mainly happy that Sarah Palin will not be VP. I am more inclined to share Paul Street's view of Obamania:

The clothes are a little spiffier, but the clothier hasn't changed...
Things I would like to see President Obama accomplish:
1. Ensure that every American has affordable health insurance
2. Declare that there is no such thing as an "enemy combatant"
3. Ensure that every "detainee" at Guantanamo receives an immediate trial
4. Close Guantanamo
5. Close all CIA black prisons
6. Commit the US to stopping all unfolding genocides
7. Apologize for all US-sponsored genocides
8. "Bail out" middle class families trying to send their kids to college
9. Tackle "education" by doing the only thing that research shows will work: committing money to reducing class size
10. Release Leonard Peltier from prison
11. Pressure Israel to retreat to their 1967 borders (cut their funding off until they do so)
12. Adhere strictly to the Geneva Conventions
Wake me up when any one of those things has happened.
The "race divide" was dreamt up by those who don't want us thinking about the class divide.
